How does Wolf and above Scouts track all their work done?

Often, den meeting activities enable the Wolf Scouts to complete requirements toward an award or rank. For Tiger through Bear ranks, if the activity is completed outside of the den meeting, the parent, adult partner, or another trusted adult should sign into Scoutbook and mark the requirement off as completed, indicating the Cub Scout has done his best to complete the requirement. After consultation with the family or the Scout to confirm completion, the den leader then approves that requirement. If the requirement is completed in a den meeting, the den leader signs off on the requirement in Scoutbook.

Den leaders may, however, ask an assistant or parent who helps at meetings to play the role of “Akela” and assist with the approvals. For Webelos and Arrow of Light ranks, the den leader signs for approval of all requirements unless the den leader delegates this responsibility. The Den Chief (a Scout from a Scouts BSA Troop) helps lead the meetings. The Denners (a Scout from the Den) and Den Leaders lead Opening and Closing flag ceremonies and help with setup and cleanup.

What's Scoutbook?

To assist Scouts, parents, and leaders in keeping track of rank advancements and other awards, as well as to allow for better communications, Pack 467 has subscribed to BSA’s electronic management system known as Scoutbook. Scoutbook is a Web application that makes it easier for our Den Leaders and Committee members to manage Advancement. The benefit is that you, as a parent or guardian of a scout, can also mark off and review advancement records for your Scout. Scoutbook is mobile device friendly and an easy reference for you to see how your Scout progresses throughout the year. Scoutbook is free for parents to track their Scout. Our Pack has purchased the Pack Plan to make our Leader's jobs easier.
